Replacing conventional soil analysis, German corrosion testing of buried pipes uses Wenner method of specific electrical ground resistance measurements to ground resistance profile; cathodic pipe protection making chemical analysis unnecessary, is still applied at actual corrosion points; small test samples are augmented by ground resistance, pipe to ground potential, pipe flow and electric field measurements.
