Pulling resistance of inclined anchor piles in sand
By means of model tests, semi-empirical formulae are developed for computation of skin friction against inclined piles embedded in sand; both single piles and piles as members of quay structure are considered, and effect of pile spacing and pile length are determined; in order to provide broad applicability of results, tests are also run at varying sand densities and with varying inclinations of piles; in addition, theoretical and literature studies clarify problem of piles in tension and behavior of composite quay structure.
