Tabulated data contain service and corrosion record of number of steel penstocks and water pipe lines; flow tests showed that high, sustained flow coefficients are obtained with permanent type spun coal tar enamel linings; two examples of increased flow capacity; in one case, where 28% increase in capacity resulted in applying hot coal tar enamel lining to old originally bare riveted steel penstocks and, in another case, where such application caused carrying capacity to increase sufficiently to produce enough additional power to pay for cost of reconditioning in period of 3 yr.
