Viscoelastic damping for rapid transit structures
Investigation of impact noise radiated by bridge structures of elevated rapid transit system; impact sound octave band level was measured as function of prestress in model of prestressed concrete box girder model; same measurements were carried out on full-scale nonprestressed composite steel and concrete box girder, with viscoelastic damping materials applied on steel portion; noise level was reduced to extent to be comparable with all-concrete nonprestressed box girder.
