T.H. Steel arches for scram drift support at Manitou Barvue mines
Ground support problems at copper mine were encountered in scram drift due to soft and slabby nature of highly chloritized rhyolite country rock; original 8×8 ft section was increased to 9× 9 ft, followed by chemical grouting of box hole brows, installation of 12×12 in. sills and T H steel arch supports; two complete layers of 6 in. lagging were placed completely around arches and concrete rings installed at both ends and center of steel arch structure.
