Thermal expansion of silica mortars after firing at 950°, 1200° and 1500° C
Thermal expansion between 20 and 950 C was compared with expansion of materials before firing; mortars showed marked difference in expansion behavior after being fired to 1500 C, indicating that there was developed large amount of tridymite; thermal expansion of fired samples is less than that of unfired samples.
