Convenient new halogen gas detector has been developed for locating leaks in gas-filled underground cables; its design and application are described; this detector is highly selective and has excellent sensitivity to freon introduced to cable as tracer gas; since its development, detector has been used successfully, and without undue difficulty, to locate number of leaks.
