Behavior of earth dam during earthquake
Earthquake responses of earth dam of homogeneous embankment type and of height of 41 m, located in north-east district of Japan; vibration characteristics of earth dam during earthquakes were studied; predominant periods of earthquakes observed at crest correspond approximately to natural period of earth dam obtained from resonance curves; computation of earthquake responses was attempted, assuming earth dam is five-mass system; spring constants, which were used in computation, were obtained from test results of filled materials, and corrected by Stodola's method.
