Control and maintenance of concrete structures in existing dams in Sweden
Condition and quality of concrete in existing dams in Sweden have been studied by systematic inspections and investigations; generally speaking, concrete quality has proved satisfactory, although typical concrete defects occur; defects are mainly leaking cracks and joints and surface damage by frost or erosion; special investigations have been carried out concerning risk of damage by leaching at cracks and joints; results indicate that concrete deterioration due to this kind of leaching normally is slow and often of little significance; for repair of concrete damage, epoxy resin is used to considerable extent.
