Residual stresses in fillets of gear teeth; method proposed makes it possible to determine residual stresses in fillers; in transition zone these become tensile stresses; polishing usually creates residual tensile stresses in hardened surface layer; polishing with removal of 0.2 to 0.3 mm from hardened surface layer in fillers reduced endurance limit 20 to 30% by comparison with unpolished gears.
