Turbulent flow over moving boundary
To study mechanism of energy transfer from wind to already formed small amplitude gravity water wave, pressure and velocity measurements were performed in model in which wave surface was reproduced by wavy boundary moving at constant speed; experiments were carried out in water flume with two different sets of sinusoidal shape wavy boundaries under fixed and moving conditions; pressure distribution was almost symmetrical when boundary was fixed; it displayed noticeable phase-lag with respect to waves shape when boundary was moving, which accounts for energy transfer from wind to wave because of normal stress.
