Mild steel twisted bars for concrete reinforcement
Use of twisted bars for concrete reinforcement was recommended by Central Building Research Institute, Roorke, India, as early as 1954; Institute had, at same time, developed machine for twisting bars; although twisted bars were codified by Indian Standards Institution their use in construction has not been extensive; it is desirable to use high-grade concrete for optimum utilization of twisted reinforcement; its design aspects and economics are treated in conjunction with concrete of grade M 150.
