Road bridge over Tay river in Scotland
Bridge consists of forty-two 55-m spans and four ship channel spans of 70 m each; two rows of reinforced concrete piers carry 3.66×3.05 m steel box girders which are continuous only over latter four spans; 30 cm thick concrete deck slab carries four 3.33-m wide lanes divided by 2.7-m wide central pedestrian walk placed 60 cm above roadway level; girders were prefabricated from 18.3 m long sections on temporary structure under bridge and were then hoisted into position by special lifting appliance.
