Construction of bridge over Geesthacht canal lock
In order not to interfere with lock operation, 30 m long, 900-ton section of 175 m long 16 m wide prestressed concrete bridge was built on scaffolding 2.37 m over section's final position; after completion, section was lowered by means of system of 12 hydraulic jacks; construction and lowering operations are described in detail.
