Features of Pont Aval bridge across Seine river designed and built by Entreprises Campenon-Bernard; Pont Aval comprises twin bridges, about 4 ft apart, each to carry four lanes of one-way traffic; each of twin bridges has two prestressed hollow box girders assembled from 86, 12.5-ft-long, 11-ft-deep precast, prestressed elements; bridge itself is prestressed three ways -- longitudinally, transversely and vertically (at piers); two of three sets of piers supporting bridge girders are founded on river bottom, third, on left bank.
