Behavior of members of high-strength steel of ASTM-A441 is compared with that of low-carbon structural steel members (A36 or A7) and conclusions are drawn concerning suitability of high-strength steels for plastic design; high-strength steel members are evaluated using behavior of structural steel members as reference; cross-sectional properties and member behavior of beams under uniform moment and under moment gradient are discussed; tests of behavior of A441 beam-columns and subassemblages for braced and embraced frames.
