Effect of reinforcement on anchorage zone cracks in prestressed concrete members
Analytical and experimental investigation was undertaken to develop direct method of designing transverse reinforcement with realization of crack; tests were conducted on three rectangular and seven I-beams to determine transverse strain distribution along certain longitudinal lines and development of cracks; analytical study was made of conditions of equilibrium on cracked end block; 14 rectangular and 11 I-beams with transverse reinforcement were tested to corroborate analysis; bond tests were made on seven simple pull-out specimens and on seven "twin" pull-out specimens; behavior of specimens with and without reinforcement, and bond-slip relationship.
