Study of damage to concrete and masonry dams, causes and remedies
Study of effect of water under pressure on concrete dams, based on examination, by Norwegian Society of Engineers, of 88 concrete dams in Norway, some more than 30 years old; very few of dams were uninjured; most of injuries were at joints; main cause of injuries is said to be chemical action of water; proposal to place thin water-tight concrete slab in front of dam, with air space between slab and dam.
