Experimental study made in structural engineering laboratory, Copenhagen, on effect of lactic acid upon strength and durability of high-grade cement mortars used in making masonry floors for dairies and similar plants; expansion of mortar and clinker; arching of floors; tests showing loss in strength of tubes and beams of various cement makers subjected to action of lactic acid of 0.1 n. to 0.3 n. concentration; experiments showing variation of acid concentration inversely with depth of originally homogeneous acid solution; effect of sand proportion and characteristics on acid resistance of portland-cement mortars.
