Dynamics of large steerable radio telescope antenna
Techniques for synthesizing simplified mathematical models for complex structures; model consisting of 9 rigid bodies with total of 33 degrees of freedom was devised to represent 210 ft diam antenna structure having approximately 4800 degrees of freedom; determination of mass, inertia, and stiffness properties of model; method of establishing equations of motion is presented with example having only 6 degrees of freedom; method for generating coefficients in equations.
