Large capacity of multistory frame analysis programs
Two different methods are described and compared to analyze large multistory building frames efficiently by digital computer that take advantage of sparse nature of their stiffness matrices; techniques are based on displacement method of structural analysis; first employs special form of Gauss-Seidel iteration of equilibrium equations and second arranges stiffness matrix in form of tri-diagonal system of sub-matrices, and then obtains solution by using recursion equation.
