Vibrations of steel-lined concrete chimneys
Mode shapes and natural frequencies for first 4 fundamental modes of vibration are calculated for tall reinforced concrete chimneys with independent steel liners; results indicate that for each mode of unlined chimney there is mode of near equal frequency for same chimney with steel liner, and that mode shape of concrete shell is nearly same for both cases; modes are computed by using Stodola numerical procedure and are based on Bernoulli-Euler flexural theory; graphs illustrate variations of modes with major parameters of problem.
