Coal-mine explosions and coal- and metal-mine fires in United States during fiscal year ended June 30, 1938
Statistical data giving results of studies of 29 explosions in 11 States and Alaska, with total of 170 deaths; also of 24 fires, of which 3 were in anthracite mines, 5 in metal mines, and 1 in water tunnel; 8 fatalities resulted; in one case, fire was thought to have been started by whisky still in abandoned section of mine.
