Proper use of wire and strand in prestressed concrete
Uniform elastic properties obtained by subjecting wire or strand to stress relieving process; wire is subjected to controlled low heat (700 to 800 F) for short period of time (15 to 30 sec); elongation of tendon based on load-elongation curve is accurate method of obtaining specified initial tension; error can change cracking load slightly but has no effect on ultimate strength of prestressed concrete member.
