Supplementing main jacking pit equipped with 1000 tons of hydraulic push jacks, intermediate stations are installed between every fifth to seventh joint, using pipe to rear as kicker; each consists of twelve 60-ton jacks hooked up in series; positioned at 40 to 56-ft intervals, pressure at jacking pit exceeds 8000 psi; 546 sections of concrete pipe include 6-ft long, 12-ft ID pipe reinforced with three cages of welded wire fabric, 8 1/2-ft ID pipe has double cages except for those being jacked.
