Elastic critical loads of laterally braced trusses
Comparison is made between experimental and theoretical results for model parallel chord truss buckling laterally in elastic range; chords of truss are of uniform section; lateral restraints of varying stiffness are used on truss and value at which well defined change in critical load occurs is determined; theoretical results are based on computer analysis allowing for interaction between all members of truss, and on approximate procedure obtained by considering truss to be replaced by equivalent elastic line with flexural and torsional properties of original truss.
