Study of guyed towers
Effects of certain nonlinear factors in behavior of tall guyed towers are studied to determine their importance with respect to static analysis of such towers; nonlinear features studied are -- movement of upper end of guys caused by eccentricity of their connections to mast and by flexural and compressive shortening of mast, variation of flexural stiffness of mast because of axial loads, and influence of wind force on guys; numerical results are presented for 1100 ft four-level tower subjected to both symmetrical and unsymmetrical loading conditions; results were obtained by using general guyed-tower programs written for IBM 7090 computer.
