Flexural-torsional buckling of planar frames
Method of analyzing flexural-torsional buckling frame failure is presented; differential equations and equations of equilibrium and continuity at interior joints are derived by minimizing total potential energy function for structure; equations are also applicable to single-span beams, continuous beam, and gabled frames; effect of lateral bracing at knees of rigid frame on flexural-torsional buckling load of frame is investigated for three loading conditions: lateral load at top of left column, transverse loads at third points of beam section of frame, and axial loads at tops of columns; results are presented in graphical form.
