Prestressed reinforced concrete in earthquake resistant construction
Actual behavior of these constructions during earthquake is analyzed; it is felt that use of prestressed construction is justified in cases when seismic stresses play only small part in overall state of stress, and particularly when construction strength depends on reinforcement and not on concrete; need for more experimental proof is indicated.
