Structural steelwork for multi-storey buildings in Poland
Some concepts applied recently in multi-storey constructions are discussed; construction of Student House in Warsaw is described; 16.12-m high substructure consists of reinforced concrete framework cast in situ; steel superstructure is 50.40×14m with height of 55.62m; lengthwise stability is provided by portals and transverse stability is ensured by vertical reinforced concrete slabs; another construction is described in which entire steelwork for two stories is built up, ready for erection, at ground level, and hoisted by crane into position.
