Shear and bond stresses in reinforced concrete
Formulas in common use for computing stresses in reinforced concrete beams are based on assumption that member is subjected to symmetrical bending without thrust; object is to demonstrate error involved in applying them to members that carry thrust, and to develop general formulas which are applicable to prismatic members with or without thrust. (See also - discussion n 5 May p 725-32, n 6 June p 967-72, n 7 Sept p 1206-14)
