High-strength reinforced concrete column developed
New compression member of reinforced concrete developed by author claimed to be stronger and cheaper than steel, and as light as aluminum member for same load; loads as high as 83,000 lb per sq in. have been applied to unit without failure. (See also Civ Eng (NY) v 14 n 12 Dec 1944 p 496-8; similar unsigned descriptions in Constructor v 26 n 9 Sept 1944 p 41)
