End bearing and skin friction resistance of piles
Device with which it is possible to separate point resistance from total bearing capacity by measuring compression of lower part of test pile is described; this method has been used extensively in Sweden during last 3 yr; results from load test with driven reinforced concrete pile in which new device has been used indicate that skin friction resistance can be calculated from undrained shear strength of surrounding cohesive soil; test results also indicate that point resistance can be estimated from stress wave equation.
