Building breathing space into reactor containment vessel
Providing expansion room between steel vessel and massive concrete radiation shield: combination of fibrous and cellular types, asbestos fiber-magnesite cement product; foaming agent was added to provide cellular structure; premixed dry materials were combined with water and foam in mixer at grade and slurry pumped to point of application; it was sprayed onto vessel in three coats to build up to selected 2 3/4 in. thickness.
