Lateral load analysis of two-column bents
Derivation of simple set of simultaneous equations involving only joint rotations in symmetrical two-column bent under lateral loads reviewed; equations are well-conditioned for rapid iterative solution, even in cases of rather extreme ratios of column stiffness to girder stiffness; method of solution is directly applicable to certain Vierendeel girders; both iterative and formal solutions demonstrated.
