For rigid foundation supported by group of vertical piles of variable stiffness and general layout, simple formulas were derived by matrix algebra which produce pile forces caused by vertical loads or moments only, without prior computation of "pile gravity center& quot; and principal axes with corresponding load transformation (only one coordinate system is used throughout); produce constants for (plane) influence surface of load of general pile; and determine, by zero-lines of influence surfaces, "Kern-area& quot; of pile group within which vertical load has to be located to produce compression in all of piles.
