Fluctuating total head in viscous sublayer
Unsteady viscous sublayer model proposed by Einstein and Li was used to study character of velocity history occurring near smooth wall in turbulent flow; it is shown that distinctly intermittent velocity should exist, alternating between higher, turbulent type velocity with large fluctuations and lower, laminar type velocity with smaller fluctuations; supercritical flow of viscous oil was established in open channel.
