Precasting H-P shells
System was developed to prefabricate hyperbolic paraboloid shell which can be assembled on building site by small contracting company or rural builder; prototype structure in study was four quadrant h-p roof with two supporting columns; it was limited to 20-ft sq horizontal roof with 3-ft rise and 10-ft column height; shell design from standard data allowed for dead load at 23 psf and live load of 40 psf; shell quadrant consisted of minimum shell thickness of 2 1/2 in. at center of each quadrant with 3 1/2 in. exterior edge beam thickness; detailed cost analysis.
