Rock mechanics engineering -- Boundary project
Various aspects of rock mechanics and their applications during investigation, design and construction of Boundary arch dam and underground power plant located on Pend Oreille River, Wash, are presented; investigations are described including rock tests and their evaluation; design aspects comprise derivation of design criteria and rock stress analyses, including stability of underground openings and arch dam abutments; instrumentation and monitoring of underground excavations are described and account is given of variations made during construction.
