Steam curing of concrete masonry block mixtures
Maturity-strength relationship for expanded shale aggregate concrete differed from that obtained for sand-basalt concrete, having approximately same cement content; for given steam maturity 24-hr compressive strength of expanded shale aggregate concrete was about 80% of strength obtained from sand-basalt concrete; this percentage being same as ratio of 28-day continuously fog-cured compressive strength of relative mixes; additional fog or air curing increased compressive strength; long-term shrinkage in air or drying shrinkage was not affected by steam curing.
