Channel stabilization cleans up muddy Missouri
River improvements between Kansas City and St. Louis, Mo, developed by US Army Corps of Engineers, will provide self-cleaning channel 300 ft wide and 9 ft deep; concave stone clad banks to forestall erosion; construction of rock filled toe trenches; 93,500 cu yd of earthwork and 65,600 lineal ft of piles were needed; improvement made possible by regulating effect of existing large dams along river.
