Conditions in mine of Kirkland Lake Gold Mining Company, Ontario; upon resumption of mining from drift on 5450 ft level, after abandonment for 7 or 8 yr, it was found that squared, untreated Douglas fir timbers were still sound, while at upper levels similar timbers had decayed rapidly; conclusion is that one fungus, most active at upper levels, is excluded by high temperature prevailing on 6460 ft level.
