Restoring force characteristics of multi-story frames
Relation between vertical force and restoring characteristics, and behavior of frames under repeated horizontal loading are investigated; influence of vertical load on restoring force characteristics is clarified in elastic region and design formula is proposed; in elasto-plastic region, experimental results of miniature portal frames show that theories are approximately substantiated by experimental results; frames with diagonal bracing have large energy absorption capacities and large ductility factors.
