Roadway lighting for Port Mann bridge over Fraser River, east of Vancouver, BC, is contained in handrail on both sides of 6900-ft long structure; bridge, part of highspeed freeway, has width between handrails of 64 ft, with two 5 ft sidewalks, four traffic lanes and 2-ft median barrier; lighting system chosen comprises 8-ft long luminaire jointed together by cover plates to form continuous top to fencing; each fixture consists of extruded aluminum rail constructed with center partition and removable top cover; in front compartment is optical assembly and light window, with ballast and space for lighting cables in back; other details are described.
