Study of optimization in lateral load distribution in reinforced concrete T-beam and slab bridges shows that among various factors, number and size of transversals play most important role and centrally located transversal is most effective for lateral load distribution; and there is only one value of transverse stiffness for bridge for which ratio between assumed values of flexural rigidities of longitudinals coincide with fraction of design loads carried by them.
