Fabrication of orthotropic deck sections for Port Mann bridge
Paper describes deck fabrication in Vancouver, BC branch of Dominion Bridge Co; orthotropic deck was wholly fabricated and spliced in plate shop; bridge deck consists of series of deck sections spliced end to end across length of bridge; width of deck sections is constant at 65 ft, and length of each deck section varies according to geometry requirements; most of sections were approximately 25 ft long; deck plate forms top flange for floor beams and for bent plate stringers.
