Fatigue tests of two prestressed concrete I-beams with inclined cracks
Two prestressed I-beams were subjected to symmetrical two-point loading equal to 78% of ultimate flexural capacity of section; this loading was sufficient to cause diagonal tension cracking in both shear spans of both beams; repeated loadings of lesser magnitude were then applied until failure occurred; web reinforcement provided in two test beams were 57 and 43%, respectively, of that required to develop ultimate flexural capacity according to 1.13.13 of AASHO specifications; results of tests of ultimate strength of prestressed beams under combined action of bending and shear are presented.
