Effect of strand blanketing on performance of pretensioned girders
Study of blanketing by plastic tubing used to prevent bond between strand and concrete near ends of pretensioned prestressed girders; tests of five 34-ft T-beams indicated that bonded embedment length required by Section 2611 of 1963 American Concrete Institute Building Code is inadequate for blanketed strand; twice this anchorage length is needed to develop ultimate flexural and shear strength of girders when blanketing is used.
