Dimensionless parameters defining bending moments at various sections of arch are explained and their magnitudes are obtained as function of parameters defining geometrical data of arch and elastic deformability of foundations; diagram covering wide range of circular arches encountered in design of arch dams is evolved to determine development of bending moments by crown or abutment.
