Detached breakwater and improved navigation entrance Lorain Harbor, Lorain, Ohio
Test conducted on 1:125-scale model of harbor and adjacent areas; model equipped with wave-generating and measuring devices to determine optimum length and alignment of proposed detached breakwater lakeward of existing breakwater system, and optimum shape and width of navigation opening to protect harbor entrance and mooring area from storm waves and currents, and to improve navigation conditions for large vessels; recommended plan provides for 2250-ft long detached breakwater and removal of 300 ft of existing breakwater.
